Why is Catechetical Preparation so important? At every age in life, preparing well to receive any every sacrament is of greatest importance. Through preparation, one encounters God's intimate presence and thus s able to grow in great appreciation for the life-giving grace which the sacrament will give. Just as a young couple spends time with one another before marriage, discovering in each other one's personality (beliefs, sense of humor, dreams, goals, etc.) so also, preparation through catechetical classes, fellowship with other people, and growing in prayer helps each of us to open our hearts, minds, and very lives to the grace, love and presence of Jesus Christ. Catechesis helps us to open our hearts, minds, and entire lives to all that God wants to bless us with.
What roles do parents play? Parents have the irreplaceable role and responsibility of being the primary educators of their children. Through daily life, parents give a testimony through word, deeds, and example for children to follow and learn from. If parents do not teach their children to believe in Jesus Christ and His Church, the world will teach them NOT to!
